At Highgate, we believe purposeful living doesn’t end with age—it evolves. Every person carries a lifetime of roles and identities: mother, father, teacher, artist, coach, nurse, gardener, friend. These titles tell stories of love, service, and impact.
In earlier seasons of life, we’re surrounded by activity and responsibility. We have people who rely on us, places to be, things to do. But as we grow older, those rhythms can shift. Retirement, loss, or changes in family dynamics can leave seniors feeling isolated, uncertain, or without direction.
Without a renewed sense of purpose, it’s easy to feel disconnected—and that disconnection can affect both emotional and physical well-being. That’s why, at Highgate, we help residents rediscover what gives their life meaning today—through connection, creativity, community, and care.

Our mission at Highgate is to devote ourselves to helping every resident live a life of purpose. During our Purposeful Living Interview with new residents, we take the time to truly know each one—their story, their family, their interests, and their passions—so that regardless of age or ability, we can support them in living a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling.

We believe the key to aging well is staying engaged—mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually. That means continuing to do what brings joy, while also embracing new experiences, friendships, and skills. At Highgate, helping residents stay connected to what they love—and discover new purpose along the way—is at the heart of everything we do.

“My husband and I were both very ill when we moved into Highgate. After he passed, I decided to sell my home and stay. They offer many events that I would not be doing if living at home. Also, I have made many new friends. It is a nice place to live.”
