Highgate in Grass Valley is an attractive 'Manor House' nestled in quiet wooded surroundings. Tucked into the hills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Highgate is located close to the hospital and doctors as well as shopping, banks, and restaurants. Historic Nevada City is only a short ride away. Our van is available for scheduled outings and resident transportation.
The 'Manor' at Highgate Grass Valley is a smaller apartment community and because of the cozy size it's easier to move about the building for meals and activities and to meet and interact with other residents.
Residents have a choice of a spacious studio, alcove, one bedroom, or two bedroom apartment - complete with kitchenette, refrigerator, microwave and a private bath with a large walk-in shower. You are free to furnish and decorate your new apartment as you wish and small pets are welcome - so your new surroundings will immediately feel like home.
For those who want complete independent living, but access to the services and amenities of The Manor, our beautiful two bedroom Retirement Villa Duplex Homes are located conveniently but separately on the Highgate property.
We provide a continuum of care that can accommodate changing needs of a resident:
- Independent living in a separate Villa Duplex gives peace of mind that help is only seconds away in an emergency
- Assisted Living for those needing help with activities of daily living and limited nursing services
- Enhanced Care for the declining senior needing full assistance and support
- Our early stage Memory Care Program gives peace of mind knowing that a resident with diminished mental awareness will receive loving attention and reassurance while remaining in Assisted Living
- Our secure Memory Care Cottage provides loving individualized care in a safe, homelike environment for seniors afflicted with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia
Something for everyone
If you love gardening but find it hard on your back, our waist-high planters in our gardener's courtyard may be just the answer. There's a full kitchen in the Activity Room. It's perfect for entertaining family and friends with plenty of comfortable seating for family potlucks and birthday celebrations. And it's the perfect place for baking cookies with those special grandchildren. Our full-time Activities Director caters to all interests and encourages involvement. From impromptu sing-a-longs at our Grand Piano to a trip down memory lane with an old or new-found friend, there's always something interesting to do at Highgate
For a more sedate and peaceful activity, there's our beautifully appointed library lounge. Residents can lean back in a comfortable wing chair and enjoy the large-print books by a variety of good authors that Highgate provides. Of course you can always pamper yourself in the lovely Highgate Beauty/Barber Shop or just relax and lose those aches and pains in the whirlpool tub. There are plenty of comfortable conversation lounge areas throughout the building - such as our wicker sunroom. At Highgate we want you to relax, indulge, and enjoy. After all, you are at home!
